Why pledges? Because they work!
Your race entry fee gets us to the starting line... but your pledges will take us to the finish line in a world without breast cancer!
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement that saves lives by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.
When you raise funds for the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure
®, you renew that promise to women here at home … and around the world. Last year was a difficult year for everyone, but the reality of breast cancer did not take a break! Visit the Results page to view the list of 2009 Pledge Challenge winners.Up to 75% of net proceeds generated by the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate stays in our 13-county service area. The remaining income goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure national grant program. Raise pledges and take pride in saying "I'm part of the cure!" If you register online, you will automatically receive a Race Center and personal fundraising page. Your registration confirmation email provides you with instructions on how to access your page through the Race Center link on the race homepage. You can add your story, pictures and a message to your supporters. Email your contacts and have them support you online. You can provide the address for your web page to your supporters when you contact them ... or they can click on the button at the top of this page (Support a Team/Participant) to search for your name. Track your progress online. Click here to access your personal page and/or to be reminded with your User Name / Password. All you need is the email you used when you registered. |
You can collect pledges from your supporters and submit them with a completed pledge form at any in-person registration site including race weekend. Make checks payable to . Please instruct your supporters to print your name clearly on the memo line in the lower left corner of their checks. The supporter's name and address should also be printed in the upper left of the check. |

An offline pledge is any amount that is paid by cash or check. An online pledge is one that is paid online by credit card.

You can record and track your online and offline pledges through your Race Center. However, once your type an offline pledge into your Race Center, it will 'disappear' (that is, will not show in your list of pledges) until the money is received and confirmed by the office. An offline pledge is any pledge that is paid by cash or check. An online pledge is one that is paid online by credit card.

We are listening... you can opt out of your fundraising reward
When you register, you can opt out of receiving a fundraising reward. This is in response to the many who have contacted us after the Race to give back in this manner.
Or... pick up your fundraising reward on Race weekend
In order to minimize expenses and maximize the funds available for our programs, we ask our fundraisers to pick up their rewards on race weekend. You can submit your pledge money during race weekend and pick up your pledge rewards on the spot!
If you submit all or some of your pledges before race weekend (online -or- offline), please be prepared to document your total pledge amount by keeping copies of the pledge forms as you submit them and/or printing out your totals as they appear in your Race Center.
Fundraising Notes
Contributions are tax deductible to the extent of the law.
All pledge money must be received by June 1 in order to be considered for prizes and rewards.
Please instruct your supporters to print your name clearly on the memo line in the lower left corner of their checks. Make checks payable to . The supporter's name and address should be printed in the upper left of the check. Offline amounts recorded via your Race Center will not appear in your online totals until they have been received and confirmed by the Affiliate Office. It is best to provide a completed Pledge Form with all offline pledge submissions.
General Rewards may be picked up on Race day with proof of total submitted. Print out your pledge page from your Race Center and bring it with you to claim your rewards(s).
If your name appears on your team's online roster, your personal pledge submissions will appear on your personal page as well as being automatically included in your team's total.
Participants are limited to one pledge reward level or prize level.
Submit the necessary company matching gift forms for yourself and/or your supporters whose employers have a Matching Gift program. Please include a note that indicates the participant/team to whom credit should be given.
