Team Up!
One fact cannot be ignored: team participation is essential to the success of Susan G. Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure! There truly is power in numbers. By forming a team of family members, friends, fellow students, neighbors and/or co-workers this year, you will help us fulfill the Komen mission -- to eradicate breast cancer. Rain or shine, your team will join more than 40,000 participants to celebrate and honor our breast cancer survivors and to remember our friends and family who have lost their fight against breast cancer. We encourage all teams to join our team revolution to Drive Donations and Empower the Cure!

What is a team? A team is a group of all ages from your neighborhood, company, organization, school, and/or family that join the Race under one team name. Team members can walk/run together or just allow everyone to move at their own pace, choosing their own distance. Each team needs at least one captain (they can have up to three co-captains) who will create the team, pick a team name and communicate all essential information to its members. Team members can register online, by mail or in person — but MUST provide the exact team name on their entry forms to be recognized as part of the team.
How do I choose my team division?
High School: Centered around a single high school and is composed of students, faculty and staff along with their friends and relatives. Family/Friends: Centered around one person and is composed of his/her friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives. Community Groups: Centered around a school (grades K through 8), support group, church group, club, etc. and is composed of members from that group along with their friends and relatives. Company/Corporate: Centered around a business, corporation, college, or university and is composed of employees, students, faculty and staff along with their friends and relatives.
The Executive Race Committee reserves the right to determine the correct division for any team.
How do I create a team?
It is highly recommended that the Team Captain(s) register and create the team online. However, there are 3 options to create a team: online, by mail and in person.
- Online (recommended method): Click on the button at the top of this page to Form a Team. Follow the instructions on the screen to form your team while registering yourself for the race at the same time. Your confirmation email will provide you with information on how to access your Race Center where you can customize your team page, recruit team members, track your team membership and more. You will also be able to track the pledges raised by yourself and your team members.
- By Mail: Download and print the Team Creation Form AND the Race Entry Form to register yourself for the race. (Forms will be posted on this website after January 1, 2010.) The team captain must register for the race at the same time that the team is created. Forms must be postmarked by 4/9 and submitted to:
Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure® c/o The Bancorp Bank 409 Silverside Road, Suite 105 Wilmington, DE 19809 - In-Person: The Team Captain(s) must register for the race at the same time that the team is created. Team signs must be ordered online and must be picked up at the Team Tent on Race Day, beginning at 6 AM.
When/how will the Participation Challenge winners be notified? As soon as all paper and online entries have been processed and tabulated, we will determine the winners in each category. Winning teams will be notified before or on race weekend so they can be available to receive their award on Race day during the Award Ceremony which begins at 9:45 AM. Please be sure to monitor calls to the phone number that you provided when you created your team.
What should I do if members are missing from my team roster? Only team members who register online will appear on your website team page. Participants who register using paper forms are kept on a separate file and will not appear on your website team page. They will, however, be included in the final membership count and donation total if they provide the correct team name on their entry forms and all pledge forms. If a participant wants to be associated with your team after he/she has registered, please send an email to the Team Coordinator which includes the name of the participant, details on how/where he/she registered, and your team name. The deadline for such a request is midnight, April 25.
